News > Dairy Farmers of New Zealand discuss TraceabilityBy Andrew CookeTuesday, February 15, 2005Representatives from Dairy Farmers of New Zealand, an industry group of Federated Farmers, discussed traceability with Rezare Systems. Rezare Systems is leading an integrated farm management systems project that involves a number of dairy industry organisations. Dairy Farmers of New Zealand members talked about the challenges of implementing technologies in real farm situations, and discussed issues around product traceability and animal traceback. The use of technology and identification products may bring benefits, but there may also be a gap between the ideals promised by vendors and the outcomes achievable on-farm. Rezare Systems Managing Director, Andrew Cooke, said that the meeting was both “refreshing and helpful”, and anticipated useful contributions from members of the group in ongoing projects.
